Last Trip: 01-20-06 Some big hole in the ground, canyon walls to the right of me, canyon walls to the left volleied
and thundered
I took last Friday off from my job down at the local junk yard and headed down to the LBC to catch some
Bull Trout,(Some people call them Dolly Vardens), with some friends of mine.We were going to fish that afternoon,
all day Saturday and Sunday morning, quitting in time to catch the NFL Playoff game between the Steelers, (Yea!!!)
and the Broncos, (Booooo!). The buddy that went with me had never been fishin for Bull Trout before and he wanted
to go and check it out. Another buddy I had invited earlier,(OK here comes some redneck drama), who was
having some trouble escapeing from the local whip, ball and chain of his supervisor at work, (whom was having surgery on
Saturday), had to partially cancel but was going to meet up with us late on Saturday after a 3 and 1/2 hr. drive, for
the last 2 hrs. of fishin and the 4 hrs. of fishin we would get in on Sunday. Well that did not happen because some
truck driver knocked down a telephone line with his bucket up on his dump truck, so he had to stay and wait for them
to replace it and that did not allow him to leave work and meet us. Although he did finally arrive late on Saturday night
to catch the 4 hrs. we were going to spend fishin on Sunday. He did and got skunked! What an ordeal that whole thing
was. The things we do to go Fisin.

My Cousins Tourney in OK 02-03-06
This will be the first time I will have entered this event. From the sounds of it, it could get a little out of hand
at times. But the law has been laid down. NO GUNS! or weapons of any sort. Except for fishin poles. My cousin tells me that
it should be a blast. We were supposed to go camping, but there are," DO NOT BURN ANYTHING IN OUR DRY STATE PLEASE!"
signs up all over, so we will be staying in a cabin. Sounds nice to me. He and his friends are telling me, "That if I would
like to bring by Fly Rod with me I may.", "But the guys with micro spinning rods usually win." I am thinking uhm! I will report
on this later. Sounds interesting!!!
Results of the Fishin Tourney in OK @ Somewhere below Broken Bow Lake 02-04-06
Well, well, well ! What I time we all had there. The weather was very nice and perfect for fishing. There was a much
lower # of participants than expected and the # fell as the day of the tourney got closer. Several participants backed out
at the last minute and some had some family emergencies that had to be taken care of without delay. (The later excuses were
accepted with grace and understanding the others were swallowed with bitter tastes). Appanently the contest was moved from
its original site, some place called the Blue River, for reasons of lack of being able to have a camp fire. As I mentioned
before the, "BIG BURN BAN !!!!!" The accomadations were top notch and can be viewed below. EXCELLENT job on the digs cousin!
I arrived in the big OKC on Wednesday and my cousin and another one of the tourneys founders decided to head on down
the the cabin late that night. (Leaving around 11:30 p.m. to start our 3 1/2 hr. drive). After getting close to
our destination and being lost for approx. another 2 1/ 2 hrs we arrived at the cabin around 5:30 a.m. WOW! That was
an ordeal. The cabin was just as nice as in the pictures, even better than expected. We were so tired we just kind of
hung out and unpacked and settled into the place, we were right on the water so we did throw a few cast to see what
might be out there. The cabin was on the water but not on the water we would be fishing for the tourney, but fishing was fishing.
Nothing was caught. That night we were all dead tired from the night/morning before so we called it a night early. Friday
came and we were up and ready to go fishing, another contestant arrived and met us at the river to do some scoping out
of some hot spots we might use come the day of the contest. I broke out my fly rod and decided to do some practice casting
and to check the whole rig out to see if it was going to be the ticket. It was not. So I switched to my micro and got
down to business. Boy was the fishing slow early in the day and that afternoon and it was hot out there. I quit a little early
to go and buy some sunscreen and sun glasses and came back and sat in the car. I was watching the rest of the pack
to see how they were doing and get some of the skinny on the territory. It got a little late in the day and I decided go
at it again. I did manage to catch 3 and 2 got away because I had forgotten a net and some hemostats. But the forcast
for the contest was looking better.
Several more contestants arrived and the cabin was buzzing with excitement for the contest to begin. Stories being told information
being exchanged and plans of attack being made. All with the anticipated day around the corner.
The day arrived and everyone was ready to attack and execute their plan.
